Group

This year I've decided to work in a group with Brianna Reyes, Nicole Miller, and Alejandro Ochoa. It was a bit more difficult to pick a group this year because I didn't previously know many people in my class. I walked up to these students and asked to be in their group because i know that they are work driven. They are all in many advanced classes and I'm confident that they will contribute as much as possible into the group. I also made sure to reassure them that that i get my work done as well. I believe It's very important to work with a group of people who are motivated and driven, even if they may not be your friends. I know from past experience that working in groups can come with conflict so its important to chose members wisely, providing that if a conflict does occur, the members can work together and solve it. I only know Alejandro on a personal level, granted I'm very excited to get to learn more about my other group members and what they have to offer. Working with people who you just met gives you a chance to be open to new ideas and hear completely different perspectives. A variety of viewpoints is important in film because it can help you relate to certain audiences as closely as possible. Knowing that they're also open to a new group member, makes me feel comfortable expressing my ideas respectfully even if it may be different from their's. Even though I'm trying something new by working in a group with members that I'm not very close to, I'm looking at it as an opportunity to benefit myself and prepare for the future. Although I understand that working in a group of four can be risky because you have to accommodate many people, I believe it's a necessary experience. In my future profession, i know I'm going to have to work in a group of people who I'm not familiar with so I'm looking forward to this experience for my own benefit. From my past experience in this class, I've learned skills to help me work in a group. I understand that everyone has separate lives so getting everybody together in one place to film can be hard but planning ahead of time is essential. Overall I'm excited for this experience and to continue to get to know my group members. I'm also excited to start working on this film and continue to use what i've learned previously to improve my filming skills. This new experience should benefit me and I'm going into it with confidence and positive intentions.
