Intro Blog

 My name is Macaria Linarez-Castillo.  I am a sophomore at Fort Lauderdale High and I looking forward to taking AICE Media Studies.  I am genuinely excited to take this class. What excited me about taking Media Studies is because of the impact media has in every facet of our lives.  There is the history of media which has changed so much in my lifetime.  Also, there is the way Media influences and reflects human behavior through communications, and social sciences.  I am fascinated by the impact media can have on peoples lives and want to learn more about how media is going to continue to influence our day to day lives and our futures. My favorite realm of media is through music. Music is a form art that people can express themselves by and many different people can relate to. Filming a music video will give me a chance to pick one of my favorite songs and put myself into the world i imagine while listening to the song. My brother took this class and i enjoyed watching him make his music video, it looked so much fun. I'm so excited to film a music video for this class. Besides music, theres so many aspects of mass media that catch my interest. The way a movie or show is made has so many factors that play into it, learning about it would be so fun for me. I am also interested in making YouTube videos, this class can teach me skills to help me improve if i decide to pursue that career. I really appreciate the unique things we get to learn because of the AICE program. While the classes are challenging, I feel lucky to have a high school that can prepare me to be eligible for the Bright Futures Scholarship. I have had a chance to speak to a few friends that have taken the class before and they have all raved about how fun it can be.  The picture that i chose is a cartoon meditating. Meditating brings me peace and happiness and those are two things that i think are very important in life. This class will add to my knowledge which also brings me happiness.

Filming solution

 welcome back! In the previous blog i discussed how i got sick a couple days before filming. I had to find a solution to the issue. I contacted my group members, a day before our planned filming day, letting them know that i wouldn't be able to attend. They informed me that it would be okay because the scenes being filmed didn't require every group member to be in it. I still wanted to be included because i know from our previous times filming that during the process we often make changes from the storyboard to better our film. These changes take place during the actual process of filming each scene as sometimes we realize that our storyboard is complicated to follow exactly.  I think it's important for each group member to contribute by adding their input to these changes as it adds as much perspective as possible. How to make a short film

  Blog 3 What is the take away from the video?   I have acknowledged all the aspects and things needed to make a film. I learned the writing tips, production and post production steps and procedures. I could take away that there are ways to be better prepared for filming then I have before.     What good information did you gather while watching  it?   Budgeting and the resources you have access to will be crucial throughout the entire making of the film. When editing, cut the scenes down until you can't anymore which will shorten the film to just the important parts of it. Preparation is key for a film. However, even if you create a storyboard for the entire film, there still may be changes while making it. Stick to a theme and a tone and let it guide the story. If you do not do so, it will confuse the audience. Lastly, taking care of your cast is important because if you do not have respect them, they may not make it as easy to film.     How do ...
