Welcome! In this blog i discussed what i did in preparation of my first day of filming. My group discussed the final storyboard together so we all have an idea of what to expect the first day of filming. In preparation, all of my group members messaged Khalid through instagram asking for permission to use his song "coaster" in our short film. He hasn't answered yet and if he doesn't end up answering by the time i start editing the film, i can figure out a way to remix or edit the song to avoid copyright complications. Royalty free options are also open. Music is an important factor for the film especially considering the high emotions that need to be represented in the film. My film is in the drama genre, meaning the emotions represented are intended to have a impactful influence on the audience. Short films consist of less dialogue and more action and aesthetic factors representing a plot. This means that camera angles and sound are critical aspects into making a fi...
In this blog, i will discuss the mis-en-scene used in our film. Mis-en-scene is the arrangement of actors and properties before a film takes place. This is almost like "backstage" access to a film. It helps give an understanding of the factors that make a film portray a certain image, plot, and emotions. The blanket is meant to represent comfort in a time of despair. In the "bargaining stage" Brianna is getting ready to go to a party that her boyfriend is attending. She is seen putting on a beautiful formal dress and putting on make-up in attempt to look her very best. This costume and...
Filming was a new experience for everybody. My group filmed on December 3rd. My group picked this specific date because it correlated with the song. The song starts off with the lyrics "I still remember the third of December". When i found out i would be filming in the month of December, it only made sense to choose that date. My friend Madison agreed to film for us since one of our group members was ill. Madison's mom drove us to the park and waited for us to film the video. We were very thankful to be provided transportation to the park, however, we didn't want to keep her mother waiting for too long so the filming process felt rushed. Even though my group followed the storyboard, filming was a bit complicated. When theres a group of people working together, it can be hard to accommodate everyones ideas. We attempted to film each scene at least two times just in case we would run into any problems while editing. We filmed at a public park which also brought some ...
