Peer Review Blog

Sarah and I edited over the weekend. On saturday we added all of the clips together and made sure it fit the time limit correctly. While editing, we noticed that certain clips fit better with certain transitions. The transitions were the most difficult part because it took a lot of trial and error. We also had to change the placement of certain clips to make sure they fit together smoothly. On sunday, after all of the clips were together in the way we both approved of, we went on to add the background music and diegetic sound. We added the diegetic sound from a separate audio clip we took of foot steps. Once i finished editing, i showed the film to someone in my english class and asked for any recommendations. She recommended we change the time of the film where we add the background music. Initially, we only had the background music at the end of the film where the main horror element was incorporated. After her suggestion we decided to add the music at a low volume thorough the entire film and increase the volume at the end of the film. We also switched a couple transitions to create more of a reminiscent effect. Overall, the main goal was to make the plot understandable while incorporating the horror genre with camera angles, sound, and lighting. I was glad to hear that she said that she understood the diary/notebook prop. This meant that the prop used was successful in incorporating horror and mystery into our film. She didn't notice the costume change that dream took place in throughout the film as she's trying to replicate Paulanka. Due to the changes she recommended, we didn't have to re-film anything, we just had to re-edit certain parts. It was good to gain advice from someone who has an objective viewpoint and is seeing the film for the first time.
